We used to rent dedicated desks. We stopped, because the maths stopped working for anyone. A permanent desk around here runs $360 to $550 a month plus GST, and for that you get a desk in a room with other people. We have six private offices instead, $500 to $650 a month plus GST, and even the cheapest one comes with a door that locks.

Why we stopped doing desks
Two reasons, and neither is complicated.
The first is that a desk in a shared room is the worst of both worlds once you take more than the odd call. People kept ducking into the corridor, or the kitchen, or their car.
The second is price. A coworking space on Bell Street here in Preston charges $500 a month for a permanent desk, and one in Brunswick charges $550. That is what a small private office should cost. We would rather sell you the room with the door than a desk at the same money.
